Under the direct supervision of the School Feeding Project Manager, the Area Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating the implementation activities of the World Food Programme (WFP) funded Lebanon school feeding project.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Act as a focal point in coordinating and monitoring the project activities in the relevant areas.
- Coordinate with the relevant area monitors and quality control officers on the project development to ensure proper fulfillment of daily tasks.
- Follow up, daily, on the project developments and progress to ensure activities are implemented in conformity with the approved project proposal.
- Assist and provide guidance and support to the project teams.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor the project activities.
- Conduct trainings for area monitors and quality control officers, when necessary.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to follow up on progress and challenges.
- Assess, discuss, and address any project challenges with the project staff, coordinators and project manager as required.
- Monitor the schedule of relevant field staff.
- Collect and check timesheets, leave requests and mileages for all relevant field staff.
- Ensure proper and timely monitoring of data collection (forecast numbers, attendance, surveys, checklists, etc.) by the field staff.
- Communicate and liaise internally with other coordinators and IOCC departments as needed.
- Liaise with the monitoring and evaluation department on all monitoring activities.
- Report to the quality control specialist about any issues related to food safety and quality, and follow-up to ensure all issues reported are addressed in a timely manner.
- Liaise and coordinate activities with donor field staff as necessary.
- Report all program challenges and issues to the project manager.
- Submit regular reports on challenges and achievements as agreed with the project manager, with respecting quality and deadlines.
- Prepare reports as per donor requirements and submit to the project manager.
- Attend and participate in IOCC meetings and in meetings with donors as necessary.
- Perform other duties as required or assigned.

- Good knowledge of food security norms and standards.
- Ability to achieve results and meet deadlines in a demanding, pressured, and fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel.
- Diplomacy and dynamic personality.
- Capacity and willingness to travel to the field.
- Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English; French is a plus.
Experience:
- 3 to 4 years of work experience.
- Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
- Previous experience in food security program implementation is an advantage.
Working Conditions
- Stationed in IOCC office in Mansourieh, with frequent visits to the target schools.
- Preferable that candidate resides in Beirut-Mt Lebanon area.
- The candidate should have a driving license and a car.
