Project Description:
The project will empower young women to take control over their career choices by providing skills and opportunities to increase their employability and support them to make informed life choices. This will be achieved through high-quality career services and life skills training and suitable job placement and/or vocational training. Given the precarious economic situation for businesses, the project will strengthen the capacity and resilience of MSEs to withstand the current crises, thereby increasing the likelihood that women will remain employed after job placement. The project will improve Public-Private dialogue and engagement by promoting collaboration between the private sector, SDCs, and project beneficiaries. In addition, the project will encourage women’s rights and regulatory frameworks conducive to the growth of youth and women-led enterprises and decent working conditions.
The overall objective of this project is to Contribute to the empowerment of young women through informed decision-making, better employability, and linkages with the private sector.
Project Modalities: (Food, Cash, Capacity Strengthening, Technical and Specialist Services): Cash, Capacity Strengthening, Technical and Economic Empowerment Gender Equality.
Main Activities :
- Career counseling and life skills sessions are delivered to 60 young women from 18 to 29 years old. (30 women at Chatila and 30 women at Nabaa, in the first cycle)
- Technical skills and knowledge of targeted young women are enhanced
- Job matching is offered to target vulnerable young women
- Micro and small enterprises are supported by a tailored business plan
- Conduct a needs assessment for the beneficiaries to build a relevant curriculum.
- Conduct desk market study and research including market assessment of profitable career opportunities, for job placement and future permanent career opportunities.
- Determine appropriate assessments and interventions required to assist beneficiaries, analyze and interpret career assessment results and incorporate in career counseling/job search coaching sessions.
- Conduct group counseling sessions to help beneficiaries make informed career decisions.
- Conduct suitable individual one-to-one career counseling sessions for 60 beneficiaries (in the first cycle) in line with market needs and according to the labor law. Provide at least two individual career counseling sessions to each project participant.
- Assist and guide beneficiaries through occupational exploration and the career decision-making process.
- Guide and coach beneficiaries in self-directed job search strategies. Provide resume/cover letter critiques and interview skills training.
- Engage beneficiaries in use of library and on-line resources for researching employers and current employment opportunities.
- Connect MSEs employment opportunities with suitable potential candidates from the selected beneficiaries.
- Provide counseling and administrative support as required to achieve the project’s goals & objectives.
- Informing beneficiaries about potentially helpful career-related opportunities.
- Assess the business's areas of success and provide proper follow-up after job placement to achieve the business opportunities.
Reporting:
- Centralize all information gathered in Market Research and consolidate in one report (into the proper reporting format) to be delivered to B&Z Livelihood Technical Manager.
- The Narrative Report which includes market needs assessment research and study for the profitable business opportunities, individual counseling Monthly report, with disaggregation of data per location, including the report of the outcomes and action plan for the one-to-one individual counseling with the selected girls/women
- Provide reports as per the timeline requested deadlines and guidelines.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience :
- Education: Advanced University degree in Business Management, Economics, Social Sciences, or any other field relevant to development.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of previous experience in Business development work and job counseling.
- Languages: Excellent command of English and Arabic (speaking and writing).
Knowledge, Skills & Competencies :
- Experience in the private sector, Businesses, and cooperative organizations.
- Knowledgeable about ever-changing trends across all dominant industries.
- Familiarity with obscure yet accessible job opportunities.
- Knowledge of issues relating to women's rights, gender, humanitarian, development issues, and protection response.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a supportive technical and communication style.
- Ability to understand the cultural and political environment and to work well with partners including local authorities.
- Understanding the cultural norms, traditions, and the socio-economic situation of Beirut/Mount Lebanon.
- Understanding of the structural, social, and financial struggles of vulnerable job-seekers
- An understanding of and commitment to B&Z’s mission and values
- High analytical skills and data analysis
- Keep up to date with all market developments and needs
- Patience and a positive attitude are highly requested
- Strong market and private sector knowledge

Deliverables:
- Market Assessment and Study for the job market for vulnerable young Females
- Provision of Market Needs Assessment Report
- Provide one-to-one counseling for participants at BML
- Creation of a network of local employers by the Career Counsellors, where beneficiaries will be referred to job placements.
- Completion of the placement, insure job vacancies to attend interviews with a prospective employer
