Position Description
The Campaigns and Research Assistant will work at the direction of Crisis Action’s MENA office Director to execute the following duties:
Providing coordination support for the design and delivery of Crisis Action’s MENA advocacy and campaign efforts, including:
- Organizing meetings and drafting electronic communications to support outreach to new civil society partners and policymaker offices and strengthen existing relationships.
- Supporting the management of campaign activities by upholding deadlines and simplifying workflows between team members.
- Using Microsoft Teams to organize weekly team calls and other impromptu internal discussions as requested.
- Assisting the office director and campaign lead in ensuring that campaign activities across all teams are in line with the overarching office and campaign strategy.
Providing administrative support to the MENA team, including:
- Taking and circulating notes for internal team meetings.
- Attending and taking notes for external events, including meetings and forums with partner NGOs, policymaker offices, and think tank experts.
- Compiling and circulating weekly reviews of conflict-related media coverage.
- Drafting periodic reports on campaign and office activities to partner NGOs and donors.
- Tracking and recording campaign activities and resulting impact across all Crisis Action offices.
- Maintaining the central Salesforce database of office and campaign contacts.
- Organizing and maintaining the office’s shared work materials on Sharepoint.
- Ensuring the presence of campaign-related posts on Crisis Action’s organizational Twitter feed.
Providing research and advocacy support for the MENA and global campaign teams, including:
- Assisting the design of campaign strategies.
- Tracking media reporting on regional conflicts in English and Arabic and circulating breaking developments to relevant team members.
- Assisting in drafting campaign products, including joint letters, social media posts, and press releases as requested.
- Conducting background research on political and humanitarian developments impacting regional conflicts in English and Arabic as requested.
Candidate profile
The candidate should possess:
- A degree in political science, international relations, or law, or should have related knowledge through prior work.
- Demonstrable understanding of international human rights and humanitarian law, how they apply in armed conflict, and the role of the international community in upholding peace and security.
- Experience conducting advocacy through grassroots mobilization or government relations is a plus.
- Excellent research skills and ability to distill and summarize complex topics into easy-to-understand formats for a variety of audiences. Experience conducting research on MENA issues is a plus.
- Excellent project management and administrative skills.
- Fluency in English and Arabic, spoken and written.

The candidate should:

- Be energetic, adaptable, and able to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Demonstrate initiative and the ability to assume and follow up on tasks without prompting.
- Work collegially as a member of a small team that frequently handles pressing deadlines.
- Communicate clearly and concisely.
