Identify and assess water, sanitation and infrastructure needs in informal tented settlements
Prepare and develop Bill of Quantities (BoQ) for identified hard WASH needs as per the technical assessments.
Ensure high-quality installation of works related to water and sanitation, including but not limited to site planning & surveying, field logistics coordination (trucks, labor), supervision of construction works as per technical specifications.
Represent NABAD in the field by engaging and coordinating with WASH/ focal points, other internal and external field colleagues, beneficiaries, landlords, suppliers, contractors and Lebanese authorities/municipalities (all key stakeholders) when implementing activities in settlements
Ensure referrals are communicated via the official NABAD channels.
Ensure coordination and collaboration with other departments in WASH in particular the Hygiene promotion and Services teams.
Support the WASH officer in liaising with logistics and other support colleagues to ensure all inputs are in place for a timely implementation of projects.
Perform transect walks together with WASH focal points / community members to identify, creatively address and solve WASH challenges encountered in the field.
Suggest innovative improvements in work flow/approach ensuring increased quality and cost effectiveness of the implementation.
Facilitate management of daily laborers.
Conduct various kinds of technical and non-technical WASH assessments on different levels independently.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Plan the implementation of construction activities: Undertake field surveying exercises and provide accurate quantity calculations for each construction activity (BoQ input for technical designs).
Assess WASH facility requirements for people with specific needs and other vulnerable community members, and design and implement appropriate solutions with support from the WASH Officer.
Supervise the construction and rehabilitation of latrines, holding tanks, septic tanks, small water and sewage networks with all necessary connections and fittings, hand washing stations, water tanks, soak away pits, infiltration trenches, communal holding and septic tanks, and similar WASH related activities.
Supervise contractors during implementation, address challenges identified and report progress on daily basis.
Supervise, advise & participate in loading items from warehouse to ensure the availability of all items during implementation.
Capacity building: train WASH committees to enable them to conduct basic maintenance works (community empowerment).
Perform other tasks related to water and sanitation as requested by the WASH Officer, and provide support to other departments within the WASH Core Competency (hygiene promotion, database, community support projects).
CRITICAL INTERFACES:
Hygiene promotion: Liaise with the hygiene promotion team, refer WASH related diseases and necessary HP activities in ITSs. Attend monthly/weekly meetings with the hygiene promotion team to share achievements, challenges and follow up on referral.
Water trucking & Desludging: Liaise with services team for the planning and implementation of water trucking & desludging activities and supervise as necessary.
Logistics: Under the supervision of the WASH Officer, perform quality checks of items received in the warehouse or on field (water tanks, frames, latrines and other WASH facilities) and liaise with logistic as needed.
